Amazing Angles and Precise Protractors

This week we began our unit on 'Geometry' in maths, focusing on properties of shape.  Our key focus has been on learning the different angles and how to use a protractor accurately.  

There is some key language that children will need to know as part of the learning in this unit:

• angle
• turn/ whole turn/half turn/  quarter turn
• acute/right/obtuse/reflex angle
• degrees (°)
• interior angle
• protractor
• clockwise/ anticlockwise
• perpendicular/parallel
• regular/irregular
• top view/ side view/ plan view

Over the next two weeks we will be deepening our understanding of all the above and what they mean.  An amazing start, well done Year 5!
