Super Science in Year 5!

Wow! What an incredible first Science lesson in Year 5! 

To start we discussed the value of science in the world around us, realising that it would be a very different world without all the scientific discoveries that support our daily lives and the natural world! We then looked at the skills required to be a GREAT scientist, collecting a variety of ideas that were not just academic!

Then the main event! We conducted three separate investigations and experiments, with the focus on the three different areas of Science: Biology, Physics and Chemistry.  Througout each experiment we used valuable questioning and observation skills, we then hypothesised further and considered what would happen if we change the experiments in certain ways. Finally, using our Oracy skills, we summarised our learning by collecting all our thougths into considered scientific conclusions. 

A very impressive first lesson and I think we have a super year of Science ahead!
