Year 3 Book Week Fun!
Last week, we had an exciting and busy Book Week in Year 3, packed full of stories, creativity and lots of reading.
One of our favourite activities was our reading scavenger hunt. We searched high and low around the classroom and school to find clues hidden in different books. Each clue led us to a new story or character, and we had great fun solving the puzzles together while discovering new books to read.
Later in the week, we were lucky enough to take part in a dance workshop. We used movement and music to bring stories to life, thinking carefully about how characters might move and feel. It was a fantastic way to combine reading with creativity and energy.
Of course, World Book Day costumes were a big highlight! We loved seeing everyone dressed as their favourite characters. The classroom was full of wizards, explorers, animals and heroes, and we enjoyed sharing the books our characters came from.
Inspired by the book Just Because by Mac Barnett, we also became authors ourselves. We wrote and illustrated our own imaginative “Just Because” stories, thinking of silly, surprising and creative explanations for unusual things. Our ideas ranged from magical creatures to mysterious machines, and we had lots of fun sharing them with each other.
Throughout the week we also enjoyed lots of arty activities, including drawing characters, designing book covers and creating colourful story scenes. Most importantly, we spent plenty of time reading together, exploring new books and sharing our favourite stories.
Book Week reminded us how exciting reading can be. We discovered new stories, used our imaginations and celebrated our love of books together.
What a fantastic week of reading and creativity!
